Plain terms for a quiet recipe notebook.
These terms describe how you may read, share and cook from the Phrexxontholmare website, and the few small responsibilities we share when you do. By using this site you agree to the points below. They are written carefully but kept short — the kitchen is small, and so are the rules. Last reviewed on 6 May 2026.
i · Preamble
phrexxontholmare.world is operated from 10 Rawhiti Street, Diamond Harbour 8972, Aotearoa New Zealand, by Phrexxontholmare (NZBN 9429050010024, GST registered 134-562-908). References to "we" and "us" mean the small team that publishes the journal. References to "you" mean a reader of the site, a newsletter subscriber, or a person attending a workshop the kitchen runs.
These terms operate alongside, and do not displace, your statutory rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the Fair Trading Act 1986 and the Privacy Act 2020 of New Zealand. Where any clause is inconsistent with those Acts, the statutory protection prevails.
ii · Access & eligibility
The site is free to read and does not require an account. You agree to use it for lawful, personal or non-commercial editorial purposes. If you are reading or writing to us on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to do so.
We may add, remove or revise content at any time. We try to keep older recipes online when possible, but cannot guarantee that any single page will remain available indefinitely.
iii · Permitted use
You may:
- Read, save and print recipes for your own household cooking.
- Cook from the recipes for friends, family or community gatherings.
- Quote a short passage in a review, article or social post, with a clear credit and a link back to the original page.
You may not, without prior written permission:
- Republish a recipe in full, on a website, in a newsletter or in a printed publication.
- Use the journal's text or images to train, fine-tune or evaluate machine-learning models.
- Use the brand name, logo or workshop materials in any commercial way.
iv · Sharing recipes informally
Pinning a recipe on a fridge, sending a link to a friend, talking about a dish at the table — none of that needs permission, and never will. The kitchen exists to be cooked from. The restrictions above are mainly about commercial republishing and large-scale reuse.
v · Workshops & bookings
From time to time we offer paid Saturday workshops at the wharf hall. When you book one, you enter a small contract with the kitchen on the following terms:
- Workshops are confirmed once payment is received in full.
- You may cancel up to 14 days before a workshop for a full refund.
- Cancellations between 14 and 7 days before a workshop receive a 50% refund or the chance to transfer to a later date.
- Cancellations less than 7 days before a workshop are not refunded, but a registered participant may transfer their booking to another person.
- If we have to cancel a workshop, we offer a full refund or, if you prefer, a credit against a future workshop of equal value.
For a longer description of how booking and refunds work, including any consumer-law rights you have under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, please write to us before completing a booking.
vi · Sunday letter (newsletter)
The Sunday letter is sent only to readers who have actively subscribed. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every letter, and we will remove your address from the active list within seven days.
vii · Intellectual property
All written text, photographs, illustrations and other content on the site are owned by the kitchen or used with the permission of their original creators. Recipes themselves are not copyright-protected as ideas, but the wording, layout and presentation that surrounds each one is. Please respect that distinction when sharing.
The "thisdomain·kitchen" wordmark and the small leaf-circle logo are unregistered marks used to identify the journal. Any look-alike use is not permitted.
viii · Reader contributions
If you send us a comment, a correction, a recipe of your own or a story for the Sunday letter, you grant the kitchen a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to publish it on the site or in the letter, with credit, unless you ask to remain anonymous. You can ask us to take it down at any time. You confirm that the contribution is your own work and does not infringe on anyone else's rights.
ix · Cooking notes & allergens
Recipes are written carefully, but everyday kitchens are different. We list ingredients clearly so that you can substitute or omit anything that does not suit your household. Allergen information is provided as a guide only — please always check the label of the specific products you buy. We are not in a position to confirm the allergen status of food prepared in your home.
The journal does not provide nutritional, medical or dietary advice. If you have specific dietary needs, please consult an appropriately qualified professional rather than relying on the recipes alone.
x · Limitation of liability
The site, recipes and workshop materials are made available "as is". To the maximum extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses that may arise from following a recipe, attending a workshop or relying on information found on the site. Nothing in these terms limits any non-excludable consumer rights you have under New Zealand law, the EU Consumer Rights Directive or comparable legislation in your country of residence.
xi · Third-party links
The journal sometimes links to growers, suppliers and other independent makers. We do not control the content of those websites and cannot accept responsibility for it. Where we mention a partner by name, we do so because we have personal experience of their work; we still recommend reading their own terms before using their services.
xii · Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when the way the site works changes. The current version is always the one on this page, and the "last reviewed" date at the top tells you when it was last meaningfully edited. Substantial changes will be mentioned in the Sunday letter so subscribers are aware.
xiii · Governing law & disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. The courts of Christchurch have non-exclusive jurisdiction in respect of any dispute, but if you live in another country and consumer-protection law gives you stronger local rights, those rights are not affected by this clause.
Most disagreements can be settled with a friendly email. If you have a concern, please write to us at infocenter@phrexxontholmare.world first and give us a fair chance to put things right.
